High Port Fixed Cheek Weymouth
The Waterford Weymouth is very popular among showing riders, as the ball-link mouthpiece helps to prevent the horse from leaning and becoming strong in a busy go-round.
The Waterford mouthpiece is made up of a series of ball links, making it flexible in all directions. It moulds around the horse's mouth, creating even pressure, so it is suitable for most types of mouth conformation, including horses with large tongues.
High Port Sliding Cheek Weymouth
This Weymouth has a high port to allow space for the horse's tongue. This means that pressure is put on the bars of the mouth rather than the tongue when rein pressure is applied, so it is often suitable for horses with large, fleshy or sensitive tongues. Please note that, depending on the individual horse's mouth conformation, the port may also act on the roof of the mouth if it touches.
The sliding cheek makes the bit more mobile than a fixed cheek in the horse's mouth.
This bit is available in different mouth sizes and shanks too, please do contact us if you would like a bespoke bit made.
